Make Acrobat Reader Faster
If you're like me and you use Adobe Acrobat Reader frequently, you may want to have it load up quicker. To do so, try the following:
I have found that this also helps to keep Acrobat Reader from crashing and hanging after you've closed the document and tried to close the application.
- Open
?L:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat?N\Reader
{Replace?Lwith the appropriate letter for the drive in which you installed Acrobat Reader and?Nwith the number of the version you're using} - If you do not see a folder called
"Optional", create one - Move all files from the
"plug_ins"folder to the"Optional"folder
I have found that this also helps to keep Acrobat Reader from crashing and hanging after you've closed the document and tried to close the application.

Wow. Followed your instructions, and now Adobe Reader opens super fast. Thanks!

Acrobat Reader 6 is a hog, use version 5 instead, it's still available for download from Adobe if you specify Windows 95 as your OS.
Cheers,
